Thank you so much for this awesome information. Capstone Books just released some new interactive graphic novels. They are like these books where you can insert a CD and read the book. I love this website.

I just started learning how to do digital storytelling. The only thing I did was use PhotoStory of digital stills and narrated it (they were pictures from my SuperBowl party).

Anyway, this is such a valuable resource; I can't wait to teach my kids about it. Thanks.

Wow...I didn't know this existed.

This is great for group work, as you mention...especially in regards to collaborative editing. Thanks for noting that this tool currently works better for Word docs.

Google Docs is cool. Plus think about the money a library could save if they did not have to purchase MSOffice products:)

I, too, love this site. Thanks! I've heard about digital storytelling but haven't had much of a chance to check it out. I like how I can find books from around the world and in a variety of languages; however, I wondered if any of the books had audio files attached to them, or if you can view the pages even larger than they are given, so you could use this with a larger group.

Also, I am interested in finding out if there are ways students (of all ages) can make their own digital stories. Is there a program out there that might be more user-friendly or accommodating than iMovie or podcasting using PowerPoint?

What a neat and great resource. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about books from around the world. I couldn't quite figure out how to change the language of the book text, although it seems like this feature is available on the site.

I especially liked the book reviews written by the children. Definite educational possibilities!

I appreciate what you say about students needing to learn about the creation of content. Developing skills in this area is very different from accessing and evaluating information.

But there is a great opportunity here to allow students to take ownership of what they learn since through using such technologies they are able to contribute to the content. It seems that when students own what they learn they become more engaged.

Thanks for your thoughtful post.

I agree with the fact we, as educators, need to start incorporating more Web 2.0 tools in the curriculum; however, like you stated, it does require more than just using the tools since students need to be taught higher order thinking skills and even writing skills.

I wonder though if many educators already know about these tools and don't use them because of time constraints or because of the pressure to teach to standardized tests. ????

In any case, have you tried Classroom 2.0? Does the site actually teach users how to teach/use Web 2.0 in education, or is it more of an informational site? I'm curious. Maybe I'll check it out later today. Thanks for the post.
